Adventures in Bartending

I took a course in bartending a couple of weeks ago and passed with a 99. I had 20 minutes to make 15 drinks. I made them all in 12 minutes and only forgot to put a straw in one drink. Otherwise, it was perfect. Needless to say, I am very proud of myself. It was a two week course from either 3-6 or 6-9. I decided to do it in one week from 3-9. I started Monday and tested Friday. I kick ass! Unfortunately, my efforts to find a job haven’t been so good. But at least I got a date!

There was a really cute guy in the 6-9 class that I had my eye on. I’m shy so I didn’t say anything, but at the end of the first class as I was walking out, I heard the teacher say to him, “She’s cute.”  I heard him agree. :) So a whole week goes by and we don’t say a word to each other until the last day, testing day. I tried to stick around as long as I could to see if he would say anything to me but finally I had to go. Right before I left the teacher tells me to give him my number. Aw, gee shucks, I can’t do that. She insisted that I at least leave my number so that she can give it to him. That I was willing to do. Not that I expected him to call or anything.

An hour after I got home I get a phone call. His name is Tyler. We go out on a date the next evening. One of the nice things…and not so nice things about Tyler is that he’s like me in the fact that we’re up to do anything. The problem is that we can’t decide what to do. We were hungry so we knew we wanted food. But what kind? We walk around for a bit then decide to put our names on a list at one restaurant. The wait was going to be 45 minutes so we took a buzzer and walked around. Then we came upon a mexican restaurant with a 15 minute wait. We’ve decided to start a collection of buzzer things from restaurants we don’t go to. :D The food was good and the margaritas made sure that we didn’t care about the hour it took for it to come out. After dinner we went to a hookah bar and did that whole thing until we decided to get our pictures taken in one of those photo booths at  the mall. All in all, I had a really good time. It’s been forever since I’ve been on an actual date. I even managed to steal his sweater. We’ve been out once more and that was fun too. He’s at sea right now but hopefully we’ll be seeing more of each other when he gets back. After all, I still have his sweater. ;)
